Comotomo bottle review: is the soft silicone bottle worth it?

Researched, not hands-on tested. Specs checked on Comotomo’s official US store and help center on November 2, 2026. How we research products.

Your breastfed baby turns away from every bottle you offer, and someone says “try the squishy one.” This Comotomo bottles review explains what the soft silicone Comotomo bottle is, which nipple comes with each size, how the vents work according to Comotomo, why some parents see collapsing or leaking (and what Comotomo says to do), and how to use it safely. We use only Comotomo’s own pages, plus guidance from the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the NHS.

More on feeding: our baby feeding guides.

Quick answer: are Comotomo bottles worth it?

They suit parents who want a soft, squeezable silicone bottle with a wide nipple, few parts and a neck wide enough to clean by hand without a brush. They may not suit parents who want a firm, see-through bottle, an internal vent system, or proof that a bottle shape helps with breastfeeding: no bottle has that proof.

Not stated by Comotomo: the ring’s plastic type, whether Gen 1 and Gen 2 parts fit each other, or a study behind its claims. We left weights out because two official pages give different figures.

What it does well (according to Comotomo)

  • A wide, soft nipple. Comotomo says its wide-mound nipple is designed to mimic breastfeeding and to make moving between breast and bottle easier. That is the manufacturer’s claim; the NHS says there is no evidence that one type of teat or bottle is better than any other.
  • Few parts. Four pieces in total, with no separate vent insert to wash.
  • Easy to clean by hand. The neck is wide enough to reach inside without a bottle brush, according to Comotomo.
  • Soft, squeezable body. The silicone body is made to be easy to grip. Comotomo lists it as free from BPA, PVC and phthalates.
  • Clear age labels. Unlike some brands, Comotomo prints an age range on each nipple flow, and you can count the holes to tell Slow (1) from Medium (2).

Its limits

  • The nipple can collapse. Comotomo’s help center says this usually means milk residue is blocking the vent. It advises gently massaging the vent tips in warm water and boiling the nipple for about 5 minutes.
  • Leaks at the ring. Comotomo says leaking from the sides is most often a misaligned ring, and leaking from the vents can mean something is stuck in the vent. Line up the threads and fasten the ring securely.
  • Delicate vents. Comotomo says to clean the vents by hand and not to scrub them with a brush.
  • No internal vent. If you want a vent system inside the bottle, this is not that design.
  • Gen 1 and Gen 2. The US store now sells Gen 2 bottles and nipples. Comotomo’s pages do not say whether older Gen 1 parts fit, so buy nipples for the generation you own or ask Comotomo.
  • Babies differ. In a 2026 r/beyondthebump thread, a parent of a bottle-refusing 8-month-old listed Comotomo among several bottles that did not work. The AAP says trial and error with bottles and nipples tends to be the best approach.

Safety notes

  • Recall check (November 2, 2026): we searched the CPSC recall database and news and found no recall of Comotomo bottles or nipples. In 2026 the CPSC announced a recall of TOMY Boon NURSH 8 oz reusable bottles (choking hazard), a different brand; we mention it only as a warning.
  • Never prop the bottle or leave your baby alone with it, and do not put your baby to bed with a bottle (CDC).
  • Inspect the bottle and nipple before each feeding and replace any part that shows wear (Comotomo). Never use a feeding nipple as a pacifier.
  • Never warm breast milk or formula in a microwave; it heats unevenly (CDC and Comotomo). Always test the temperature before feeding.
  • Clean bottles after every feeding. The CDC advises sanitizing at least daily if your baby is under 2 months, was born early or has a weakened immune system.
  • When boiling parts, use tongs so the ring and cap do not touch the hot bottom of the pot (Comotomo).

Who should pick something else

When to talk to your doctor

  • Your baby keeps refusing both breast and bottle, or you are worried your baby is not drinking enough.
  • You see fewer wet diapers than usual.
  • Your baby often coughs, chokes or gags during feeds.
  • Call 911 if your baby has trouble breathing or turns blue.

Frequently asked questions

Are Comotomo bottles good for breastfed babies?

Comotomo designed the wide, soft nipple to mimic breastfeeding, but that is the manufacturer’s claim. The NHS says no type of teat or bottle has been shown to be better than another. For breastfed babies, paced bottle feeding and a slow flow matter more than the brand, and some babies simply prefer one bottle over another.

Are Comotomo bottles microwave safe?

Comotomo says its bottles are safe to sterilize in the microwave, with microwave, steam or electric sterilizers. It does not recommend using the microwave to warm breast milk or formula because of uneven heating, which matches CDC advice.

Are Comotomo bottles anti-colic?

Comotomo says the nipple has dual anti-colic vents that help reduce colic. That is the manufacturer’s claim without a cited study. The AAP mentions vented bottles as one option for gassy babies and says trial and error tends to work best.
